To provide a beater including a beating portion formed from a plurality of wire materials, and a handle portion for fixing the ends of the wire materials in which the beating portion has improved beating performance without increasing the weight thereof or without deteriorating its elasticity, and the beating portion is easy to wash after used.
All of the plurality of wire materials 2 constituting the beating portion 31, and present in a root side area E1 being an area near the handle portion 4A, are formed as wire material portions 21 having a circular cross-section, and all or part of the plurality of wire materials being in a head portion side area, are at least partially formed as wire material portions 22 having a rectangular cross-section, and the major side of the rectangular cross-section is disposed so that an extension line along the major side is directed in a direction intersecting a cylindrical virtual space vertically rising from a mounting area of a mounted part of the handle portion, and parts of the wire materials or the wire materials which do not form the wire material portions 22 having a rectangular cross-section, are formed as the wire material portions 21 having a circular cross-section.
