A center part 18 of the bed is connected to a support column of the operating table. The bed comprises a plurality of bed sections 18, 32, 70 and 72 which are detachably connected to one another via interfaces 30 and 68. At least one bed section 70 or 72 can be adjusted relative to the adjacent bed section 32 in the interface 68 area. At least one end of the center part of the bed can be connected to one end of the intermediate part 32 via the first interface 30, and the other end of the intermediate part can be connected to the following bed section 70 or 72 via the second interface 68. The first interfaces are accurately engaged with each other for fixed connection, and the second interfaces have two second connection elements designed to be accurately engaged with each other.
