To provide a bed system for patients, comprising a bed for a patient, a support column for supporting the bed and a cart for carrying the bed.

The support column 10 is composed of a column base 12 and a column head 14, and comprises a height adjusting device. The cart 16 is composed of two side frame parts 20 and a cross member for connecting them. The support column 10 can rise to be located between the side frame parts 20. A first connection element 22 disposed at a side edge in the longitudinal direction of the bed 18 is engaged with a second connection element 24 in the column head 14 or with a third connection element 26 in the side frame part 20 of the cart 16 to connect the bed either to the support column 10 or to the cart 16. The bed 18 is engaged with the column 10 or the cart 16 selectively.
