PURPOSE: To obtain bedding sand capable of solidifying with excreta, developing a color with moisture thereof and confirming its used part and a method for producing the bedding sand.

CONSTITUTION: This bedding sand for treating excreta of a pet comprises a granular core body prepared by kneading a clay containing fine powder of silica sand as a principal component with adequate amounts of zeolite powder, a water absorbent and Methylene Blue powder and solidifying the resultant kneaded mixture, a surface film layer composed of a solidification accelerator and a colorant, applied and permeated into the outer surface thereof.
