When beddings 22 are stored in a drying chamber 2 and a drying operation is started, a steam solenoid value is opened at first and a fan 19 is intermittently driven. As a result, heated steam is supplied within the drying chamber 2 from a steam jetting port 7, the steam is penetrated into the beddings 22 and a temperature at the inside rises. After the steam solenoid valve is closed, the fan 19 is stopped and the beddings 22 are left in a steam atmosphere for a short time, the fan 19 is driven again and outside air heated by a heated 13 is supplied from a hot air discharge port 4 into the drying chamber 2. By properly opening a damper 16, cold air taken in from an outside direct suction port 15 is introduced into the drying chamber 2 and thereby a temperature within the drying chamber 2 is maintained to a prescribed range. Because a temperature at the inside of a beddings becomes 80 to 90°C by steam by this constitution, sufficient sterilization can be performed.
