Title:
BELL-SHAPED HOLLOW METAL SPHERE AND SHOCK ABSORBING STRUCTURE MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2010249319
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a bell-shaped hollow metallic sphere having high shock absorbing capacity, and also to provide a method of manufacturing the same and a shock absorbing structure material.

This bell-shaped hollow metallic sphere 1 is a shock absorbing body to be gradually crushed by pressurization, and formed of a spherical body obtained by bending a metal thin plate and forming it into a spherical partition, and the partition is provided with an opening hole. The opening hole is formed of two small holes and a slit S connecting them to each other, and as a metal plate, any one of a steel plate, a stainless steel plate or an aluminum plate is used. When external force is applied to a structure filled with many bell-shaped hollow metallic spheres 1 in a hollow structure, the bell-shaped hollow metallic spheres are gradually crushed and exhibit excellent compressed energy absorbing characteristics. With this structure, the weight of the shock absorbing structure material is reduced.
