This belt 2 for the shoe press is used for a press device for papermaking equipped with a press roll 1, the belt 2, and a pressurizing shoe 3 and capable of pressing a material web 5. The belt 2 is composed of a reinforcing layer 6, a first elastic material layer 7, and a second elastic layer 8 and has a plurality of drainage grooves formed in an outer peripheral surface region of the first elastic material layer 7. In the belt 2, the bottoms of the drainage grooves 9a in each region S3 near an end in the shaft direction containing at least either one of a region S2 near the end in the shaft direction of the pressurizing shoe 3 or a region S1 near the end in the shaft direction of the press roll 1 protrude from the bottoms of the drainage grooves 9b located in a region other than the regions S3 near the end to the side of the reinforcing layer 6.
