To provide a belt transmission device for an idle-stop adaptable vehicle mounted with a motor/generator, having a compact and lightweight figure.
The belt transmission device comprises an armature 19 incorporated between the inner periphery of an outer ring 14 and the outer periphery of an inward member 12 in an axially movable manner and formed of a magnetic material, a roller 21 stored in a radial groove 20 formed in one side face of the armature 19 so as to be engaged with a cam face 18 on the outer periphery of the inward member 12 and a cylindrical face 17 on the inner periphery of the outer ring 14 when the armature 19 is joined to the outer ring 14 to give relative rotation to the outer ring 14 and the inward member 12, a switch spring 23 for elastically holding the armature 19 at an engaging position where the roller 21 contacts the cam face 18 of the inward member 12 and the cylindrical face 17 of the outer ring 14, a rotor 28 fixed to the inner periphery of the outer ring 14 and opposed to one side face of the armature 19 in the axial direction, and an electromagnet 32 opposed to the rotor 28 in the axial direction for attracting the armature 19 to the rotor 28 with energization.
