Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase heat dissipation of a belt by forming rugged dimples on the surface in contact with cooling water in a belt for belt type continuous casting.

CONSTITUTION: On the surface 1 of the belt 3 in contact with the belt cooling water, the rugged dimples 4 are arranged. The dimples 2 form the uniform recessed parts 4 and the diameter on the surface is 0.5-2.0mm, and corresponds to the max. diameter of the recessed part circular shape 2. The depth is 0.25-1.0mm to provide the max. depth in the recessed part 4. Therefore, by arranging the dimple recessed parts 4, the generating energy of bubble generated on the cooling surface is lowered in comparison with the flattened surface, and separation of the bubbles is facilitated and the belt cooling boundary layer is easily detached and the heat conductivity is improved. Further, the area of the belt 3 in contact with the cooling water is increased, and due to fin effect, the heat dissipation is increased. The high speed and large capacity continuous casting are realized and further, this method contributes to the production of the cast slab of high quality.
