PURPOSE: To use a non-endless belt-type blade of low cost, perform cutting-off with high accuracy and efficiency and make compact a belt-type reciprocating cutter.

CONSTITUTION: To work a piece secured on a work feed unit 10, a belt-type blade 1 is firstly fitted on guide wheels 6, 6'. The blade is wound on cylinders 2, 2' by a length larger than the reciprocating travel of the blade. Both the ends of the blade are secured by fixation members 5, 5'. The screws of the members 5, 5' are driven in to tension the blade 1. The cylinders 2, 2' are alternately driven by a reversing mechanism 7 which comprises gears 8, 8' concentrically coupled to the cylinders and comprises other gears 9, 11 engaged with the to gears 8, 8'. As a result, the rotation of the cylinders 2, 2' is periodically reversed cause the blade 1 to reciprocate. The piece is thrusted on the reciprocating blade 1 so that the piece is worked.
