To reduce a loud striking sound generated in a belt-type fastening unit utilizing a ratchet mechanism when a taking-up lever is turned to fasten a cargo or the like, or when either a backstop engagement plate or a feeding engagement plate is struck against a valley part of a ratchet.

In order to solve the problems, a plate-like resilient member is arranged near a ratchet and the plate-like resilient member is projected out of teeth segments of the ratchet. Then, just before either the backstop engagement plate or the feeding engagement plate is completely engaged with the ratchet, it is abutted against a striking plate and the striking plate is resiliently deformed, resulting in that a striking energy can be absorbed.
