Abstract:
To provide a bending insensitive multiple mode optical fiber which can secure the frequency gain and reduce loss due to bending at the same time in a high-frequency region.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to: a bending insensitive multiple mode optical fiber, including: a core region 1 with a graded-index profile; a clad region 2 surrounding the core region; a trench region 3 surrounding an inner clad region; and an outer clad region 4 surrounding the trench region. The inner clad region and the outer clad region have the same index of refraction. The relative refractive index difference Δ2[%] between the index of refraction and the index of refraction of the trench region and the width Wcl of the inner clad region in the radial direction have a positive linear relation. The desired size Vtr(goal) of the trench region and the relative refractive index difference Δ2 is (201.8×(Δ2)2-136.3×Δ2+451.7)≤Vtr(goal)≤(201.8×(Δ2)2-136.3×Δ2+451.7)×(1.05)[μm2(%)].SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
