NEW MATERIAL: A compound of formula I (wherein R1 is H, an alkyl, a hydroxyalkyl; R2 is H, an alkyl, a fluoroalkyl, a cycloalkyl, an alkoxy, an alkylamino; R3 is an alkyl and R4, R5 are each H, an alkyl or R3 is H, an alkyl, a cycloalkyl and R4, R5 are each H; R6 is H, F; (n) is 1, 2), a metal salt thereof, a nitrogen base addition salt thereof and an acid addition salt thereof.
EXAMPLE: 7-Fluoro-1-methyl-8-(3-methyl-1-piperazinyl)4-oxo-1,4-dihydro- benzo[b][1,8]naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid.
USE: An antibacterial agent, a pesticide, an antiseptic or a disinfectant.
PREPARATION: For example, a piperazine compound of formula II is reacted with a benzo[b][1,8]naphthyridine of formula III (wherein Hal is F, Cl, Br when R6 is H and Hal is F when R6 is F) to obtain a compound of formula I.
