Abstract:
To provide an improved benzoxazinone ultraviolet absorber, especially a benzoxazinone ultraviolet absorber with low color and a low sodium content, and a method for producing the absorber.
The benzoxazinone ultraviolet absorber has a yellow index less than about 0 and sodium concentration less than about 50 ppm. The method for producing the absorber includes a step of reacting an isatoic anhydride with an approximately stoichiometric amount of an acylating compound, where the isatoic anhydride is purified by re-crystallization or other purification method.
