To obtain a new compound having antimicrobial and insecticidal characteristics and useful for controlling plant pathogenic fungi and controlling insects.
This new compound is represented by formula I [A is N or CH; V is O or NH; m and n are each 0 or 1; (m+n) is 1; X is H, a halo, a 1-4C alkyl or the like; Z is OR5 (in which n is 0); NR5R6 (R5 and R6 are each a 1-12C alkyl, a 1-12C alkoxy or the like) or the like; both R and R1 are not H when n is 1: R1 and R4 are each H, a halogen, a 1-12C alkyl or the like; R2 and R3 are each H, a halogen or the like or R2 and R3 together form a 3-7C cycloalkyl ring], e.g. methyl (E)-3-methoxy-2-trans-[2-(3-(2-(2-ethyl-1-(2- phenylhydrazino)propylidene)cyclopropyl)phenozymethyl)phnyl]-2-propenoate. The compound represented by formula I is produced by a method, etc., for reacting, e.g. a cyclopropyl-substituted phenol represented by formula II with a benzyl bromide derivative represented by formula III.
