This bi-nuclear metallocene catalyst for polymerizing an olefin is expressed by formula I[R3 to R6 are each a (substituted) cyclopentadienyl; M is an element of 4th group; M1 and M2 are each a transition element in 3rd, 4th and 5th groups; X is H, a 1-20C hydrocarbyl, a halogen, a 1-20C alkoxy, a 1-20C oxyallyl, NH2 or the like; L is a neutral ligand selected from an amine, a-phosphorus compound, ether and thioether compounds; (i) is 1-3; (j) is 0 or 1; (i+j) ≤3], e.g., a compound of Sn (Cp')Cp3Zr2(NMe2)4. Further, the compound of the formula I is obtained by e.g.-reacting MCl4 with R3X2 to obtain a compound of formula II (X2 is an alkali metal), reacting the compound of the formula II with R6Y (Y is X2 or the like) to obtain a compound of formula III, and the reacting the compound of formula III with a compound of formula IV.
