Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film that can be suitably used for a backlight unit of a liquid crystal display, can be inexpensively obtained, has excellent light-diffusing property and excellent luminance characteristics, and exhibits excellent scratch-prevention property for other members when the polyester film is assembled in a backlight unit, excellent processability, suppressed interferential coloring, and good visibility.SOLUTION: A biaxially oriented polyester film having a laminated structure of three or more layers is provided, in which both outermost layers have a thickness of 2.5 μm or more, at least one layer other than the outermost layers contains a copolymer polyester that comprises ethylene glycol and a dicarboxylic acid component containing terephthalic acid and isophthalic acid. The film has an in-plane retardation of 1500 nm or less, a film haze of 3 to 25%, a total ray transmittance of 87% or more, and a roughness (Ra) of 40 to 500 nm in one film surface.
