Abstract:
To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film having extremely flat surface, good in handling of a film and excellent in processability while it is a thin film, for example a base film used for a super high density recording medium with 12 TB or more.SOLUTION: There is provided a biaxially oriented polyester film having width of 1 m or more, constituted by at least 2 layers of an A layer forming one surface and a B layer forming another surface, in which variations of center line average roughness Ra of each layer surface is less than 1 nm respectively, difference of Ra of surfaces of the A layer and the B layer is 1 nm or more, Ra of the surface of the B layer is larger than Ra of the surface of the A layer, Ra of the surface of the B layer (RaB) is in a range of 3 to 7 nm, product between RaB and 10 point average roughness Rz of the surface of the B layer (RzB) is 500 nmor less, standard deviation of three-dimensional 10 point average roughness SRz (stylus) in a width direction is 10.0% of average of SRz, the B layer contains inactive particles with average particle diameter of less than 500 nm, and a ratio of maximum average particle diameter (dB) to B layer thickness (tB) satisfies 0.9≤tB/dB≤2.0.SELECTED DRAWING: None
