Abstract:
To provide a polyester film with favorable property for various recording media when used as a base material, particularly for vapor deposited magnetic recording medium and favorable processability for the vapor deposited magnetic recording medium with less foreign material, coarse prong or precipitation of oligomer in the film.
The biaxially oriented polyester film for recording medium contains a 0.5-150 ppm titanium compound in terms of a titanium atom, a 0.1-400 ppm phosphorus compound in terms of phosphorus atom and a 30 ppm or less antimony compound in terms of antimony atom, respectively, to the polyester, with a crystal size, χc, of 5-7 cm and a surface oriented coefficient, χI, of 5-8.5.
