Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve coding quality at a low bit rate.
CONSTITUTION: The vector quantization of a vocal tract parameter obtained by analysis (101) for the unit of a frame is executed by a quantizer 102 in a preceding step. It is interpolated (103) for the unit of a sub frame, and error between the vocal tract parameter obtained by the analysis and the interpolated parameter is quantized by a quantizer 104 in a following step. The main code of the vocal tract parameter to be updated for the unit of the frame and the correcting code of the vocal tract parameter error to be updated for the unit of the sub frame are outputted as vocal tract parameter codes. A dynamic range in the quantization of the following step is reduced, and the bit rate can be compressed.
