Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rationally lay out a power transmission mechanism to transmit torque from an assist motor to a chain in a bicycle provided with the assist motor.
SOLUTION: A chain 12 to transmit rotation of a crankshaft sprocket 10 provided at a right end of a crankshaft 7 to a rear wheel is disposed along the right side of a body. An assist motor 13 of which output shaft 36 is disposed in parallel to the crankshaft 7 is connected through a power transmission mechanism D comprising a primary gear 43, a first to a fourth middle gears 44, 45, 47, 48, and a final gear 49 to the crankshaft sprocket 10. By thus positioning the power transmission mechanism D on the left side of a rotation surface of the chain 12, the power transmission mechanism D can be laid out to be compact while avoiding interference with the chain 12.
