PURPOSE: To provide a wheel that can be easily disposed of as waste and to reduce the abrasion of a brake shoe by forming component members of the wheel from fiber reinforced plastics comprised of a synthetic resin containing a specific amount of potassium titanate whiskers serving as reinforcing material
CONSTITUTION: At least one part of spokes and a rim 1, etc., the component members of a bicycle wheel, is formed from fiber reinforced plastics comprised of a thermoplastic or thermosetting synthetic resin serving as a matrix resin with a content of 15 to 40% potassium titanate whiskers to serve as reinforcing material. The potassium titanate whiskers used have a chemical composition of e.g. K2O.STiO2 or K2O.6TiO2 and are extremely fine with an average fiber length of about 10 to 20μm and an average fiber diameter of about 0.3 to 0.5μm. The wheel that facilitates waste disposal can thus be obtained without deteriorating the rigidity and strength required for wheels, while reducing the abrasion of a brake shoe made from rubber which is combined with the wheel.
