PURPOSE: To provide a bicyclic carboxylic acid derivative, which is a valuable leukotriene B4 antagonist and effective on medical care of eczematous disease, asthma, allergy, arthritis, ischemia/reperfusion injury or the like.
CONSTITUTION: This derivative is a compound expressed by formula I (X represents O or CH2, Y represents O, CH2-CH2, CH=CH, C≡C or OCH2C6H4, Z represents CH2-CH2, CH=CH or C≡C, R1 represents H, an alkyl, an alkenyl, a cycloalkyl or an aralkyl, A represents B or O-B, B represents a mono-, di- or tri-cyclic heteraromatic moiety substituted by COR2, -(O)t -(W)s -COR2, -(CH= CH)pCOR2 (R2 represents OH, an alkoxy, NR3R4 (each of R3 and R4 represents H or an alkyl), W represents CR3R4, (t) represents 0 or 1, (s) represents 1-12 and (p) represents 1 or 2), each of (m) and (f) represents 0 or 1 and (n) represents 1-12), e.g. 2-((5-carboxypentyl)oxy)-6-(6-((3,4-dihydro-4-oxo-8-propyl-2H-1- benzopyran-7-yl)oxy) hexyl)benzene propionic acid. The compound is obtained by the reaction of a compound expressed by a formula II with a compound expressed by formula III.
