PURPOSE: To provide a new bicyclic compound useful as a causal treatment antirheumatic agent for the prevention and treatment of autoimmune diseases and inflammatory diseases and exhibiting strong effect and high safety.
CONSTITUTION: This blcyclic compound is a compound of formula I [R1 is H, an amino, a substituted amino or a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group or a substituted nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group; Q is N=C(R3) (R3 is H or an alkyl), NH-C(R4)(R5) (R4 and R5 each is H or an alkyl) or NH-C (=O)(CH2)n ((n) is 1 or 2)] and its salt, e.g. 3-(4-chlorophenyl)-8-(4- methylpiperazino)-3,4-dihydroquinazolin-4-one of formula III. The compound of formula I, e.g. the compound of formula 1a can be produced by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula, R3-C(ORa)3 (Ra is an alkyl) and the compound of formula Ib can be produced by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula, R4-C(=O)-R5.
