To obtain a bifunctional siloxane compound which functions as an alcohol scavenger in an one-pack type alkoxy-curing room temperature vulcanizable silicone composition and in which an alcohol reaction product functions as an adhesion promoter.
This silicon-containing compound is obtained by reacting an aminoalkoxysilane with a polymeric diorganosiloxane in the presence of catalytic amounts of an acid compound, preferably carboxylic acid (e.g. formic acid or acetic acid) and reacting the resultant compound with di(trimethylsilyl) amine in the presence of (CH3)3SiCl or other acidic catalyst (e.g. an ammonium salt of Broensted acid or strong Broensted acid). The silicon-containing compound contains a monofunctional group having a structure of the formula [Z is SiR"3, (CH2)p(CR1R2)m-pNHt(SiR"3)2-t or the like; R1, R2 or R" are each a 1-40C monovalent hydrocarbon; (t) is 0-2; (m) is 1-8; (p) is 1-1,000; (d) is 1-1,000].
