To provide a bill processing machine which can efficiently collect old bills resulting from design changes, while meeting the need of highly flexible processing of four kinds of bills.

The bill processing machine includes: a capturing means for capturing bills; an identifying means for identifying whether the bills captured by the capturing means are new or old, whether they are damaged, and their denominations; a plurality of accumulating parts for accumulating a predetermined kind of bills to be bundled based on the results of identification by the identifying means; at least two external accumulating parts for accumulating a predetermined kind of bills not to be bundled based on the results of identification by the identifying means; a designating means for designating the kind of bill to be bundled and a method of classifying bill not to be bundled; and a control part for controlling the bills identified by the identifying means to be allocated to the accumulating parts and the external accumulating parts based on designation by the designating means.
