To obtain a binder composition suitable for a sheet, etc., for jnkjet recording, having ink-absorptivity acceptable to a high speed printing and excellent in clarity of recorded picture by including each specific resin latex and polymer.
This binder composition for an ink-absorbing layer of an inkjet recording sheet having the ink-absorbing layer on the surface or in the interior of a supporter comprises (A) a resin latex obtained by carrying out an emulsion polymerization in a liquid containing 0 or not more than 0.01 mmol/g(resin) emulsifier, e.g. a radically polymerizable emulsifier hating a (meth)acryloyloxy group, and (B) a polymer reversibly changing hydrophiliclty for hydrophobicity bordering on a constant temperature, such as a (co)polymer composed of monomers consisting essentially of a (meth)acrylic ester of an alkylene oxide addition product of a cyclic amine and/or a (meth)acrylic ester of an alkylene oxide addition product of a noncircular amine having ≥5 total number of carbons. The composition preferably contains 0.01-80 pts.wt. component B based on 100 pts.wt. total solid of components A and B.
