PURPOSE: To obtain a binder composition excellent in flowability and hardness and capable of giving a good gloss coating by adding an α,β-unsaturated component as a CH component of a polymer having a specific enamine functionality and further adding a catalyst thereto.
CONSTITUTION: The objective binder composition comprises, as the CH acid component, (A) a polymer having 2 or more enamine functionalities in the molecule obtained by ester-interchanging (i) an aliphatic β-ketocarboxylic acid ester with (ii) a hydroxyl group-containing compound (polymer) having 2 or more OH groups in the molecule, a hydroxyl number of 50 or more and a number average mol.wt. of 500-10,000, and then reacting the ester-interchanged product with (iii) ammonium or a primary and/or secondary amine, and (B) an α,β-unsaturated component of the formula (wherein X is a residue of an alcohol having a valence of 2 or more) at a ratio of component (A) to component (B) of 2/1 to 1/1.5 and, in addition to these components, (C) 0.01-5 wt.% catalyst in the form of a Lewis base or a Br nsted base.
