To provide a binder resin for a battery having excellent flexibility and electrolyte resistance, an electrode having excellent flexibility and electrolyte resistance and the long-lived battery using the same, especially a lithium battery.
The binder resin for the battery is a carboxy groupcontaining resin obtained by compounding 10-95 pts. mass of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid with 1-50 pts. mass of a monomer represented by general formula (I) CH2= C(R1)-CO-O-(R2O)n-R3 (I) (wherein, n is an integer of ≥1; R1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R2 is a 1-4C alkylene group; and R3 is a hydrogen atom or a 1-20C alkyl group) and 0-89 pts.wt. of a monomer copolymerizable therewith so as to provide 100 pts. mass and carrying out copolymerization. The carboxy group-containing resin has 70-750 KOH mg/g acid value. The electrode is prepared by using the binder resin. The lithium battery is obtained by using the electrode.
