PURPOSE: To accurately fold each of a number of papers in two and to enable a saddle stitching to be performed without an irregular arrangement of the paper ends by forming notches in the rear side of a paper carrying tray and allowing aligning rollers to freely go in and out of the notches for every paper size when the papers folded in two one by one are to be arranged on the tray.
CONSTITUTION: A paper folded at its center line and fed onto paper carrying trays 52 and 54 is moved toward a wall plate 34 due to the inclinations of the trays. When the rear end of the paper is brought into contact with a roller 40 or 40', the paper is fed in the direction shown by an arrow A in the accompanying drawing by the rotation of the roller and then the paper end perpendicular to the center line (fold line) of the paper is brought into contact with another roller 45, being supplied with a feeding force in the direction shown by an arrow B in the drawing. The rollers 40 and 40' get in notches 54b and 54a in the tray 54, respectively, and are rotated therein. The roller 45 is allowed to freely go in and out of another notch 54d and located in compliance with the length of the paper, being rotated. Also the wall plate 34 goes in and out of notches 54c in compliance with the length of the paper. The papers each folded in two are arranged by the rollers 40, 40', and 45 and, by enabling the roller 45 to move in the direction parallel to an edge, stitching positions can be located symmetrically with respect to the aligned center lines of the papers.
