A traverser 1 of the binding apparatus comprises a coil supporting unit 4, which supports a group of slit coils 50 from below and can move up and down, an erected vertical frame 1A, a coil press frame 1B, which is arranged on the vertical frame 1A to be movable up and down and has coil press arms 11 that press the top of the slit coils 50, a band chute unit 13 which is coupled to a band chute unit arranged on a binding apparatus body 2 to form a circular band chute and can be moved in the traversing direction, and a traverse drive unit M1 for moving the traverser 1 sideways. The band chute unit 13 has a vertical band chute 13A arranged vertically, an upper band chute 13B, whose base end can be connected to the upper end of the vertical band chute 13A and which is arranged to be almost parallel with the coil press arms 11, and a bottom band chute 13C, whose base end can be connected to the lower end of the vertical band chute 13A and which is arranged on the coil supporting unit 4.
