To provide a binding apparatus including: a conveying means for receiving long vegetables, such as green onions, in a supply section and conveying them to a binding position; a binding section for binding target items, conveyed to the binding position by the conveying means, with adhesive tape; and an adhesive tape drawing section for supplying adhesive tape to the binding section, the apparatus being designed to securely bind items by loosening the adhesive tape.

The binding apparatus has two or more gripping receivers 28 for gripping items C to be bound, with a predetermined interval between the receivers. Each gripping receiver 28 is composed of two movable claws 37 and 37' that have semicircular gripping faces H and are freely opened or closed. In this case, the swing fulcrums of the two movable claws 37 and 37' are disposed apart from each other, and the basal sides B of both movable claws 37, 37'are crossed and overlapped in a side view.
