This binding material is equipped with a paper portion 11, by which a front cover is formed, and a paper portion 13, which is adjacent to the paper portion 11 and by which a rear cover is formed. The paper portion 11, by which the front cover is formed, is made of one paper portion among respective paper portions 11, 14, 15 and 16, which are folded in at least two folds or more, without including the paper portion 13, by which the rear cover is formed. Since a soft cover book, in the rear side of the cover of which, two folds or more of paper portions are executed, is produced, a pattern utilizing a space 4 times or more as much as the sizes of the book, can be printed, resulting in allowing to form a cover having the wider range of choice in design.
