Title:
BINOCULAR OPTICAL APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003302582
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To devise conditions for satisfying total reflection conditions for the entire part of the luminous fluxes to be reflected by surfaces commonly used as surfaces to reflect the optical paths in prisms constituting optical systems for respective ocular views and surfaces to transmit the same.

Magnifying lens units 3 are respectively attached to spectacle lenses 14 of spectacles 2. Eyepiece lenses 21, prisms 22 and objective lenses 23 are included in the magnifying lens units 3. The optical axes of the spectacle lenses 21 are bent twice within the prisms 22, by which the optical axes are downwardly deflected and are made coaxial with the optical axes of the objective lenses 23. The optical system for ocular views satisfies the following conditional expression: 0.98<a(θn-P)<1.2, where (a) is the angle formed by the optical axis of the objective optical system to the normal of the surface commonly used as the transmission surface and the reflection surface in the prism, θn is the angle formed by the marginal ray incident on the pupil center of the testee with the optical axis within the prism 22 and P is the total reflection conditions in the prism.
