To provide a biocompatible member excellent in hydrophilic properties and water resistance, wherein adhesion between a film and various kinds of base materials constituting the biocompatible member is excellent, and high biocompatibility is imparted onto the film surface; and to provide a method for forming the same.
This biocompatible member includes: the base material; and the film provided on the base material and including the following (1) and (2). The film is a composition gradient film, wherein the composition of (1) and (2) continuously changes such that the ratio of (1) becomes larger but the ratio of (2) becomes smaller from a side closest to the base material to a side most distant from the base material in the thickness direction of the film. (1) is a compound having a phosphorylcholine group; and (2) is a polymer of a polymerizable compound, or an oligomer or polymer compound, wherein (2) does not have the phosphorylcholine group.
