To provide a biodegradable card that has a gate characteristic, for example, the rigidity required on the machine reading and the machine writing and is biodegradable under ordinary conditions.
The base material for this card is made biodegradable by kneading a thermoplastic resin mainly comprising polylactate or a copolymer thereof with hydroxycaboxylic acid together with a high water-absorbing resin and a filler, thereby, the resultant resin shows high storage stability without material deterioration during the storage and is surely made biodegradable when discarded, and in addition, has excellent mechanical properties, for example, rigidity, moldability, mechanical strength, impact strength, dimensional stability, folding strength and manifests the gating properties enough to be applicable to the machine reading and machine writing (printing).
