To obtain a deodorant compsn. which is adjustable in its effect sustaining property according to applications, facilitates treatment after use and is finally biodegradable by forming this compsn. of foamed moldings obtd. by melting and foaming a mixture contg. biodegradable starch and deodorant.
For example, about 90 to 99.9wt.% biodegradable starch, of which 45wt.% is amylose, and about 0.1 to about 10wt.% deodorant selected from metallic phthalocyanine derive., etc., are used as essential components. This mixture is melted and is molded to the cylindrical foams having cells of a diameter of 50 to 1,000 microns, more preferably about 100 to about 200 microns and having a diameter of 13 to 25mm, more preferably about 16 to about 20mm and a length approximately equal to the diameter, by which the biodegradable deodorant compsn. is formed. When about five pieces of the foams of such compsn. are charged into home compost, the foams collapse in about one hour but are capable of sustaining and exhibiting the deodorization effect even after the collapse.
