PURPOSE: To obtain a biodegradable spin finish containing a specific acetal in a specified amount and suitable as a spooling oil for synthetic fibers such polyester fibers, acrylic fibers, polyamide fibers or polyolefin fibers.
CONSTITUTION: This biodegradable spin finish contains a compound of the formula {R1 is a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl of the formula: CnH2n+1 or CnH2n-1 [(n) is 1-9]; R2 is a linear or branched alkyl of the formula: CnH2n+1 [(n) is 2-16]}, especially preferably an acetal compound [R1 and R2 are the same; (n) is 1-9] or an acetal compound [R1 is methyl; R2 is n-hexyl, or R1 is isobutyl; R2 is isooctyl or n-hexadecyl]. A composition having a biodegradation degree of 70 mol.% comprises 10-90 pts.wt. of the acetal compound and 90-10 pts.wt. of a biodegradable surfactant.
