To provide a biometric authentication device in which even when a biometric image, in which part of biometric information is missing or unclear, is used for collation processing, deterioration of authentication accuracy can be suppressed.
A biometric authentication device includes: a biometric information acquisition part 4 for generating a biometric image in which biometric information of user is photographed; a storage part 5 for storing data indicative of data representing registered biometric information which is biometric information of a registered user; area setting parts 13, 21 for setting a plurality of areas on the biometric image by dividing the biometric information photographed in the biometric image into portions each having a different complexity in shape; and a collation part 15 for collating the biometric information with the registered biometric information by performing, for each area, weighting, by using a higher weighting coefficient for an area having a higher degree of complexity in shape, on a coincidence degree between part of biometric information photographed in the area and corresponding part of the registered biometric information.
