The fingerprint image is captured in an area in which the depression DP is not formed and the vein image is captured in the area where the depression DP is formed by receiving the outgoing light from the cover plate 12. With this structure, different kinds of biometric information of more excellent quality than before can be acquired. The cover plate 12 is partially thinned because of the depression DP.
