A biopsy device comprising a needle, a cutter configured for translation relative to the needle, a first rotating member, a second rotating member, and a drive assembly operable to simultaneously rotate the first and second rotating members at different rotational speeds. The difference in rotational speeds of the first and second rotating members provides translation of the cutter relative to the needle.
