Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine accurate optical order.
SOLUTION: The angle dependency of a transmitting light intensity with respect to a polarization orientation in terms of one measuring wavelength as a reference in a plurality of measuring wavelengths is measured and a retardation is measured. Necessity of overlapping of wave plates is judged based onthe result. When it is judged that the overlapping of the wave plates is necessary at the measuring wavelength as the reference, a retardation is obtained in terms of the other measuring wavelength on the condition that the wave plates are overlapped, then it is judged whether or not the overlapping of the wave plates was necessary in terms of the other measuring wavelength in accordance with the result of the retardation. When it is judged that the overlapping of the wave plates at the measuring wavelength as the reference was not necessary, the retardation is obtained in terms of the other measuring wavelength on the condition that the wave plates are not overlapped, then it is judged whether the overlapping of the wave plates is necessary in terms of the other measuring wavelength in accordance with those results of the retardation. When optical order is determined, a wavelength dispersion coefficient of a specimen is referred to.
