PURPOSE: To obtain a pigment having high coloring ability, superior heat stability and chemical attack resistance by calcining and cooling the mixture of specified monoclinic system compound precursor materials and grinding it.
CONSTITUTION: In the manufacture method of the compound of a monoclinic system crystal-type, which is shown by the formula (Bi, A)VO4, the plural precursor materials in the forms of oxide or salt are mixed, the mixture is calcined at the temperature of 500-950°C, a calcined product is cooled and ground. In the formula, A is an alkaline earth metal, zinc or the mixture. The molar ratio of A:Bi is 0.05:1-0.66:1. When calcination terminates, the product is gradually cooled. A temperature is lowered to 200°C-room temperature for 3-24 hours, for example. The product is discharged from a furnace and it is wet-ground in alkaline atmosphere. Then, the product is filtrated, dried and is wet-ground by a hammer mill at last, for example. The pigment is suitable for cooling the polymer organic material containing resin, oil, organic polymer and the like.
