To provide a serial transmission apparatus capable of reducing a high frequency component in a serial transmission line while maintaining an image data transfer rate.
An image data transmission apparatus 10 comprises a bit change reduction encoding device 11 which performs equal bit length conversion for reducing a change between adjacent bits by performing exclusive ORing processing twice on pixel data PBD1 to be transmitted and adjacent pixel data PBD2 adjacent to the pixel data to be transmitted and a parallel/serial conversion device 12 for converting the pixel data PBD7 on which equal bit length conversion has been performed, into serial data SBD7. At a side of an image data reception apparatus 15, there are provided a serial/parallel conversion device 17 for converting the received serial data SBD7 into pixel data PBD7 and a bit change reduction decoding device 18 which performs inverse conversion of equal bit length conversion on the pixel data PBD7 using the adjacent pixel data PBD2.
