Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a bitumen emulsion adapted so that the break of the emulsion may be retarded and that the break may quickly progress once it commences.
CONSTITUTION: In an anionic or cationic bitumen emulsion containing a breaking additive, the breaking additive is added to the bitumen emulsion in the form of a water-in-oil emulsion in which an aqueous solution of a neutralizing substance is dispersed in a continuous oil phase. This emulsion is low-cost, can be easily produced and is capable of being controlled in its break. It is used as a binder in road construction, road maintenance and construction works.
