PURPOSE: To enhance effects of the titled covering material on the prevention of soil temperature rise and on the inhibition of luxuriant growth of weeds, by a method wherein a specified compsn. consisting of high-density PE, an olefin rubber compatible with said PE and carbon black is molded into a film.
CONSTITUTION: A compsn. consisting of 70W98pts.wt. high-density PE (A) having a density of 0.94W0.97g/cm2 and a melt index of 0.01W1.0g/10min (190°C), 30W2pts.wt. olefin rubber (B) compatible with said PE and 0.5W10pts.wt. carbon black (C), is molded into an extremely thin film. The resulting black mulch film has good effects on the prevention of soil temperature rise and on the inhibition of luxuriant growth of weeds as well as excellent physical strengths. There is little possibility that the film is damaged during application or when used.
