PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a black resist for a color filter having high developability and high resolution by using carbon black subjected to dispersion treatment with a resin and adsorbing a specified amt. of a resin as a black colorant.
SOLUTION: This black resist compsn. for a color filter is a photosetting resin compsn. contg. a black colorant and carbon black subjected to dispersion treatment with resin and adsorbing 1-200mg/g resin is used as the black colorant. The photosetting resin compsn. is not especially limited if it has sufficiently high photocuring property for a black resist but the compsn. preferably contains a resin binder, a photopolymn. initiator, a monomer which is hardened by the action of the initiator and a solvent besides the black colorant. The resin binder is not especially limited if it is a high molecular compd. having coating film forming ability.
