CONSTITUTION: An edge part 23 at the front end of a blade 21 cuts off a projection on the surface of a magnetic recording medium 2, and a press surface 22 subsequent to the edge part squeezes with press a part, left uncut after cutting by the edge part 23, and a peaked corner part to smooth the magnetic recording medium 2 surface. In which case, Since the press surface 22 is formed in the shape of protrusion curved in the direction of the width of the magnetic recording medium 2, the magnetic recording medium is brought into pressure contact with the press surface 22 to generate tension in the direction of width at the magnetic recording medium 2. As a result, the magnetic recording medium 2 is forced into firm contact with the press surface 22 and the edge part 23 throughout the overall width. Further, by means of the edge part 23 formed at the rear edge of the blade 21, the cut-off projection and dust are effectively removed.
