Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a blowing agent providing a polyurethane foam having no danger of destroying an ozone layer, non-combustibility, excellent compatibility with a raw material of foam, especially excellent heat insulating properties and mechanical strength, comprising a specific cyclobutane. CONSTITUTION:A blowing agent comprising a compound of the formula (X and Y are mutually different and H or F). A raw material for a plastic foam produced by using the compound is preferably a raw material consisting essentially of isocyanate, especially polyurethane and polyisocyanurate. The compound wherein X is H and Y is F is obtained by hydrogenating 1,2-dichloro- hexafluorocyclobutane and the compound wherein X is F and Y is H is obtained by adding tetrafluoroethylene to 1,1-difluoro-2,2-dichloroethylene and further hydrogenating.
