This device is provided with a piston rod 39 which slides in a cylinder 25 suspended from a front board 23 of a shearing machine and protrudes in the downward direction of the cylinder 25. At the tip part of the piston rod 39, a first board pressing pad 47 capable of press-fixing a work W to a table 5 of the shearing machine is disposed and a second board pressing pad 51 absorbing impact is attached so as to protrude from the underside of the first board pressing pad 47. Even in the case of high-speed descending of the piston rod 39, the second board pressing pad 51 presses the work W against the table 5 of the shearing machine ahead of the first board pressing pad 47 to absorb impact and, the piston rod 39, after brought into contact with the work, decreases its descending speed rapidly, thus it is possible to reduce the impact of the first board pressing pad 47, thereby preventing noise generation.
